5 Good Things about Good Friday (4/3/2026)

1. I’m not good, but He is
“There is none righteous, no not one..” - Romans 3:10
“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” – Rom. 3:23
“the wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” – Rom. 6:23
“Indeed, under the law almost everything is purified with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sins.” - Hebrews 9:22
“For if the blood of goats and bulls, and the sprinkling of defiled persons with the ashes of a heifer, sanctify for the purification of the flesh, how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without blemish to God…” – Heb. 9:13-14

2. The torn veil
((Context: That once and for all sacrifice was a huge change in how we relate to God. See the Temple building itself had two parts…the Holy place where only priest could enter and the Holy of Holies where literally, ONLY the High Priest could enter and only once a year in order to offer sacrifices for the atonement of the nations sins. Separating these two sections was a thick curtain or veil. In the Holy of Holies was the ark of the covenant which symbolized the very presence of God and the curtain separated His holiness from the world’s great sinfulness.))
“And Jesus cried out again with a loud voice and yielded up his spirit. And behold, the curtain of the temple was torn in two, from top to bottom. And the earth shook, and the rocks were split.” - Matthew 27:50-51
“For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all, which is the testimony given at the proper time.” - 1 Timothy 2:5-6

3. I am a new creation

“We know that our old self was crucified with him in order that the body of sin might be brought to nothing, so that we would no longer be enslaved to sin. For one who has died has been set free from sin.” - Romans 6:6-7

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.” - 2 Corinthians 5:17

4. I am given a mission
“All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation” - 2 Corinthians 5:18
“I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” - Galatians 2:20

5. I am not alone on this mission
“If you love me, you will keep my commandments. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever, even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and will be in you.” - John 14:15-17
“These things I have spoken to you while I am still with you. But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.” - John 14:25-26

So how does this apply to you?

“what must I do to be saved?” And they said, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved” - Acts 16:30-31

And to those who have believed and received, the journey is not over- you are sent!
